PRIMO 23 will be held on the campus of McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.
Hamilton is 63 km west of Pearson International Airport in Toronto and 118 km northeast of Buffalo Niagara International Airport in the USA.

Hamilton is serviced by GO bus and train service from Toronto, including the 40 bus that services Pearson Airport Terminal 1. Travel time is approximately 1 h 30 min by bus. GO train service is from Union Station in Toronto to either the Hamilton GO Centre or West Harbour GO stations; both stations will require ground transport to the university campus. Tickets can be purchased from machines at the airport or at stations; download a PRESTO app for services on your phone or purchase and load funds from a retailer. Presto can be used in the Greater Toronto, Hamilton and Ottawa city bus networks.


Once in Hamilton, for bus service to McMaster University campus you can transfer to the Hamilton "HSR" bus system or GO bus service that connects to the University campus bus station. Please check the GO trip planner for your options as it will depend on your arrival day and time.  McMaster University has directions to campus for those driving and provides information on the bus services to campus.

Ground transportation can be arranged from Pearson or Buffalo airport through private shuttle or limo services.

Getting to Campus & Transit in Hamilton

The Hamilton Street Railway provides bus service in Hamilton, with buses stopping on Main Street West (10, 5B, 5 and 1 routes) or on campus at Sterling Street at University Avenue (1A, 5A, and 51 routes).


The Hamilton Bike Share provides bikes for use across the city, with multiple pick up/drop off spots on campus. Bird Canada operates a shared e-scooter program.

Getting around Campus
McMaster University is very walkable and only city buses and university vehicles are allowed on much of the campus.

The residences, main venue, and location of the opening reception are all in close proximity in the northeast region of the campus.


The Peter George Centre for Living and Learning (PGCLL) is the main site of PRIMO 23, including conference sessions, coffee breaks, and the poster social. Lunches will be served at Centro, in the adjacent Commons building. Please see the campus map: building 89 is PGCLL, Centro is located in building 28, and the opening reception will be held in building 54. Residences for attendees include PGCLL (building 89) and Les Prince Hall (building 53).

Lodging
On campus residence options will be available during online registration. You may choose a traditional double or single room in Les Prince Hall (twin bed with ensuite bathroom) or a room in the Peter George Centre for Living & Learning. Rooms in PGCLL have double beds with an ensuite washroom or a double suite (2 rooms, each with a double bed) that have a connecting washroom. McMaster University has three Signature Suites, each containing 1 queen bed, an ensuite washroom and a kitchenette.

Off campus, there are plenty of hotel options within a short bus ride or walk to campus. The Visitor's Inn is a 25 minute walk to campus. The Hampton Inn, Staybridge Suites, Homewood Suites, and Hamilton Sheraton Hotel are options in the west downtown city core that are under 20 minutes by bus.
